Lake Anna - Trinity National Forest After a tough day of uphill hiking, we were rewarded with the serenity of this glassy lake as the sun ducked down behind the mountains. The tiny ripples are from the small trout coming up to nab bugs landing on the surface.

Sears Point Raceway - At the start of a motorcycle track day on a foggy North Bay morning, other riders were warming up their bikes behind thick blankets of fog. We could hear the echoes of various machines thumping/howling away but could only make out shadows and silhouettes.

Old Glory - The tattered edges of the American flag carried on the USS Chatelain as it captured the first intact German U-boat in US history. The threads may have frayed, but the stars and stripes never failed to inspire in a terrible time of war. Now this proud piece of history rests in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

CTA line: To me, the trains and above-ground tracks of Chicago's public transit lines are among the most iconic (and overlooked) city sights.
